Imam A’li (as) mentioned in the Holy Quran directly and indirectly. Muslims needed to understand that the Quran is a book of guidance for the believers.
Imam A’li ibn Abu Talib (as) is one of the Ahl al-Bayt whom Allah has purified from all impurity and sins (33:33) and the near-kin (qurba) of the Prophet Muhammad (as) whose love is obligatory for Muslims (42:23).
“Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the [Prophet’s] household, and to purify you with [extensive] purification.“
Surah Al-Ahzab(33): Verse no 33
“It is that of which Allah gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muhammad], “I do not ask you for this message any payment [but] only good will through kinship.” And whoever commits a good deed – We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Appreciative.“
Surah Ash-Shuraa(42): Verse no 23
Imam A’li is called the Guardian (wali) of the Believers after Allah and the Messenger (5:55), the Witness (shahid) from the Holy Prophet who verified him (11:17), and the Guide (hadi) of the community (13:7) after the Prophet. Imam ‘Ali is part of the holy progeny of Abraham from whom Allah appoints the Imams (2:124) and upon whom He has bestowed His guidance, wisdom and kingdom (4:54). Imam ‘Ali is mentioned in the verse of mubahala (3:61) as the self (nafs) of the Prophet Muhammad. Verse 76:5–22 is about the Ahl al-Bayt who went hungry for days after feeding poor people every night with their own food. Verse 5:67 of the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad in right before the Prophet’s final announcement at Ghadeer Khum where he announced that ‘Ali is the mawla of the believers.
“Only Allah is your Vali and His Messenger and those who believe, those who keep up prayers and pay the poor-rate while they bow. “
Surah Al-Maida (5), verse no 55
“Is he then who has with him clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him recites it and before it (is) the Book of Musa, a guide and a mercy? These believe in it; and whoever of the (different) parties disbelieves in it, the fire will be their promised meeting-place. Be not then in doubt thereon: surely it is the truth from your Lord, but most men do not believe.“
Surah Hud (11): verse 17
“And those who disbelieved say, “Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?” You are only a warner, and for every people (there )is a guide.“
Surah Ar-Ra’d (13): verse 7
“And (remember) when his Lord tried Ibrahim with certain words, then he fulfilled them: He said: “Surely I am going to make you an Imam for men.” (Ibrahim) said: “And of my offspring?” He said: ”My covenant will not include the unjust” “
Surah Baqarah (2): verse 124
“Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them of His bounty? But we had already given the family of Abraham the Scripture and wisdom and conferred upon them a great kingdom.“
Surah An-Nisa (4): verse no. 54
“But whoever disputes with you in this matter after what has come to you of knowledge, then say: Come let us call our sons and your sons and our women and your women and our near people and your near people, then let us be earnest in prayer, and pray for the curse of Allah on the liars. “
Surah Ale Imran (3): verse no. 61
“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,” – (ayat no. 8)
Surah Al-Insan (76), read all the verse between 5 -22
“O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.“
Surah Al-Ma’idah (5): verse 67
“And those who have disbelieved say, “You are not a messenger.” Say, [O Muhammad], “Sufficient is Allah as Witness between me and you, and [the witness of] whoever has knowledge of the Scripture.”“
Surah Ar-Ra’d, verse 13
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you – when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.“
Surah Ale Imran (3): verse 103
Before answering this question, I like to put a few questions to the asking persons…
Does the Quran mention the first three caliphs?
Does the Quran mention Mawiyah or Yazid?
Does the Quran mention the method of ablution?
Does the Quran mention Sunnah and Farj of Namaz?
Does the Quran mention Taraweeh?
Please understand, the Quran is a book of guidance for the believers and not some list where you’ll get the names of people you search for.
If you doubt Imam A’li (as) decisions then I think you haven’t read the hadith,
“Man Kunto Mawlahu fa `Aliyyun mawlahu – For whosoever I am Mawla then Ali is his Mawla “
[Sunnan Tirimdhi, Hadith # 3713, where Imam Tirimdhi called it “Hasan Sahih” and Albani proved it to be Sahih too].
